≡ CPS Proposes International Baccalaureate (IB) Program for Pulaski Elementary
Great news! Due in part to the incredible level of neighborhood interest, CPS, at a community meeting Tuesday, August 4th, announced their plans to move forward with an International Baccalaureate Program beginning in the Fall of 2010. The key parts of their proposal are as follows:
- .
- CPS will place an IB program in Pulaski Elementary beginning Fall 2010.
- .
-
The school will remain a neighborhood school.
-
The attendance boundary will stay the same.
-
The program will start with grades Pre-K and K.
-
Each year the program will advance another grade. First grade will be included Fall 2011, second grade Fall 2012, etc.
-
The IB Program will have its own principal, selected by CPS to be the best fit for the program.
-
The new principal will have the flexibility to hire teachers best suited for the IB Program.
-
All children within the attendance boundary are guaranteed acceptance to the IB Program.
-
Children in the existing Fine Arts Program will continue with the Fine Arts Program through 8th grade.
-
Children from outside the attendance boundary may attend the IB Program based on space available, in accordance with CPS rules.
-
The existing Regional Gifted Center will remain and operate as it does today.
Thank you to everyone who took our survey. We believe that it went a long way in convincing CPS there a exists strong neighborhood interest in the IB Program.
While we are close to our goal, we are not there yet. What we have is a proposal. The Pulaski IB Program will not be official until it is voted on and approved by the CPS Board at its late September Board meeting.
We will keep you updated as things progress. If you have any questions or would like to volunteer, you may contact us at pulaskiib@pulaskiib.com
